Transformer

Tube dress is one of the popular frocks in my wardrobe. It is my go-to style when I need an express attire or when I am not too sure about the dress code. With this mode, I can easily dress it up or dress it down depending on the occasion. Without a sweat, I may have a simple and elegant look.

But this time, I'd like to achieve something different from this tube dress.

I displayed it on one of those "chill out" nights with my Singapore girlfriends (SgGfs) on 2009 at Clarke Quay.

Clarke Quay in Singapore is  at its best during night time. It's an area filled with restaurants, pubs and night clubs with various concepts. You may choose to chill next to the river or dance away in the night pubs.

This place is a  popular nightlife scene for locals and tourists here in Singapore.

So yeah, this tube dress had already chilled with me at Clarke Quay, hence, it's about time to transform it, don't you think? :p

Using my ever reliable seam ripper, I rived all the elastic bands as well as the belt of this dress.

As soon as I have finished the latest episode of the Orphan Black Season 2, my ripping was completed.

I tried it on and figured it out how I wanted it to be transformed. I pinned the areas that I needed to sew.

I consumed a part of the elastic band to tighten the armpit part of the reconstructed dress.

The excess fabric was left untrimmed because I intend to restyle this dress on one of these coming days.

This transformed frock is ready to see the The Transformer Age of Extinction with my folks at the Golden Village Cinema.

The film begins four years after the Battle of Chicago where the city has been torn but the world is saved.  With the help of an Engineer from Texas, Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Optimus Prime and the Autobots rise up, meet and conquer the most fearsome opponent. At 2hours and 30 plus minutes, the movie was a bit draggy for me. However, the action sequences are fantastic and the visual effects are brilliant that bring the scenes to life.

To complete our movie date, we dined out at Swensens and had our yummy dessert.

It was a good feeling dating with my oldies.

The blue crew

And yet another polo shirt revamping...

For a beginner like myself, a big polo shirt refashioning is an excellent piece to practice my skills in sewing and creating new style.

First, I ripped that pocket away.

bye bye pocket

I intend to make this polo shirt a tube dress so I measured it like so...

The arms  can be cut out since it won't be needed anymore.

I marked and pinned it this way then put it under Aria.

Those excess fabrics were trimmed away too.

Then I cut the top part to look like a tube dress.

From what I have created, I knew that I needed something to support the top/tube part so I cut two big strips from the excess material. I did some markings to make it equal and then pinned it and allowed Aria to do the rest.

I then attached that sewed strip on top of my dress to support the dress.

In my assessment, this refashion could have been easier if I cut the top and arms area prior to my measurements, markings and pinning. I will try to do it next time and discern which can be easily done.

Anyhow, here's the new tube dress that's ready to be the tour guide in the city.

My parents revisited me here in Singapore with my cousin,  Marie. It's Marie's first time so I wanted her to see the Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore.

Our first stop is at The Esplanade.

The Esplanade is an appealing durian like structure where you may enjoy different food stalls and occassional performances.

It is a good place to just sit by the bay and relax after a long walk.

By just walking through the bridge and you'll be at The Merlion Park.  That's our next stop.

No visit in Singapore is complete without taking a photo with Merlion. The Merlion is the symbol of the country, thus, the park is a-must-see place here in Singapore.

Opposite the Merlion Park is The Fullerton Hotel, one of the historic buildings in Singapore. We just took some photos around the Boat Quay area before we headed home.

My blue crew enjoyed touring around the CBD with my folks.
